Regina’s Restaurant recently reopened under new management and a new name. Formerly known as Cristina’s, the local eatery has retained all of its former charm—and some of its beloved employees! Regulars say they were delighted to find that Cristina’s chef and many of the servers stayed on, so the quality of the food and service is still top-notch! The main difference is that Regina’s focuses on Mediterranean and Greek cuisine instead of Italian cuisine.
Start by taste-testing a few different appetizers at once with the Mediterranean sampler. The sharing plate showcases fresh hummus, tzatziki, and eggplant dip with veggies and triangles of pita bread for dipping, plus hunks of feta cheese drizzled with olive oil. A complimentary basket with still-warm pieces of bread and EVOO serves as the perfect complement to the sampler plate. Make sure you save room for the main course, perhaps the gambas al ajillo—shrimp swimming in a garlicky butter sauce with tomatoes and parsley—or perhaps a chicken and shrimp kabob paired with rice. Then finish off your meal with a slice of the signature tiramisu or limoncello cake before heading back to your Bethesda MD apartment.
